Sport and games have a fantastic impact on children. Sports also bring a healthy development to the body, it gives more self esteem and it’s a great opportunity to work towards the social experiences of children. Furthermore, it not only gives pleasure but it also leads to less aggression and boredom.

After being inspired by what Our partners Esperance are doing in Rwanda and also  based on the projects in Kenya, by the name of Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) the idea was established to start a similar project in Kisumu city, Kenya. By combining sports activities with social activities such as education, environment and health, the youth will be stimulated in their own development. The purpose of this project is to offer sport and game activities to the youth in the poor slums of Kisumu city, from where they can develop themselves mentally and physically to be able to continue on an education level on nutrition, education and health.

With soccer we would like to bring a change in the living conditions and the position of the youth of Kisumu. Sporting together and having a serious input, benefits the children mentally and physically. Moreover, the sports  stimulates its members to be active in their community. These activities will include cleaning up the neighborhood, Peace ambassadors training, education projects on the danger of HIV/AIDS & malaria with the hope to stem the rate of infection and illness.

Through this project the youth not only build their self esteem but they also build their responsibility towards their environment which means that they are very productive.

They are seen as the leaders and role models of their community and earn the respect for their hard work and citizenship. Soccer can be the engine of the social, intellectual and physical development of these children.

Offering soccer activities in the slums of Kisumu, Kenya, a trustworthy relationship can be created from where it will be easier to educate the youth on the common daily lifestyles.
